Library offers playing cards for sale
The first deck of custom playing cards was released for sale recently. The standard 52-card deck of playing cards features a photograph of the Ogden Community Center on one side, and advertisements for local businesses and individuals, or library trivia questions on the other side. The playing cards are on sale at the library at 269 Ogden Center Road in Spencerport, and can be purchased for $5 a deck. The money raised through this fundraiser will go towards buying new books and DVDs for the library collection.
Businesses and individuals made the fundraiser possible through their purchase of advertising on the cards. Those businesses and individuals are: The Bunny Patch, CDL Printing, Curves for Women, Dori's Music Studio, The Entertainment Center, Expressions of Dance by Lisa, Friends of the Library, Frontier Communications, J. William Jewelers, Cindy Baxter of Jazzercise, Krony's Pizza, Gay Lenhard, Joyce Lobene, Pam Norstrand, Dennis Pelletier, Paul Rooney, Sound Source, Stoffel & Co., Stutzman's Guitar Center, Tranquility Massage, The Unique Shop, Village of Spencerport and Westside News.
This project was the brainchild of Senior Library Clerk Cindy Lott, who pitched the idea to the staff early in the summer of 2003. In addition to coming up with the idea, Lott designed and printed the cards, and also took the photo of the community center on the front of the cards. Contact the library at 352-2141 for information.
