P. Robert Fox, CPA, of Brockport, has been elected the Northeast Regional Director of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) for 2003-2004. The election was held on October 28, at NASBA's 96th Annual Meeting in Maui, Hawaii. NASBA's mission is to enhance the effectiveness of state boards of accountancy in meeting their regulatory responsibilities. NASBA's headquarters are located in Nashville, Tennessee.
Fox has served as a member of the New York State Board for Public Accountancy since 1995, including one year each as vice chair and chair. He currently serves as Chair of NASBA's Relations With Member Boards Committee and is a past member of the Regulatory Structures and the Uniform Accountancy Act Committees. Fox is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has served the New York Society in various capacities, including terms as a state board member, past president of the Rochester chapter and past ethics and committee member.
Locally, Fox is the chair of the Westside Economic Development Council, treasurer of the Greece Chamber Charitable Foundation and a board member for the Lakeside Hospital Foundation. In 1995, he was awarded the Accountant Advocate of the Year for the Buffalo District of the Small Business Administration.
A graduate of John Carroll University, he is a partner with Eldredge, Fox & Peretti, LLP. His specialties include family succession planning for closely held businesses, strategic planning, buying and selling negotiations and governmental auditing. He and his wife, Sharon-Lynn, have two children and six grandchildren.
Kathryn D. Atkinson was inducted into the Alpha Theta Iota Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Monroe Community College on November 9.
Atkinson, majoring in Liberal Arts, is the daughter of Lauri and Greg Atkinson of Hilton.
Kathryn M. Oechsle was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Society, International Scholastic Order of the two year college at Monroe Community College.

Kasandra Cliff, Redman Road, Hamlin, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2002 and spring 2003 semester at SUNY Albany. She is the daughter of Dale and Renee Cliff and is majoring in human biology.
On November 1, Cliff was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She is also a member and officer of the Five Quad Ambulance Corps at SUNY Albany and member of Phi Delta Epsilon, a medical society.
Blaine VanDenBerghe has been named president of the Rochester New York Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A stake is a geographical area in which a number of congregations are located, similar to a diocese in the Roman Catholic Church. The Rochester New York Stake, comprised of ten congregations, primarily covers the western portion of the greater Rochester area.
The new leader is employed as an engineer at Eastman Kodak. He and his wife, Kaye, reside in Brockport. They have five children: Trent, Julie, Diane and Clark, all graduates of Brockport High School where Lora is currently in her sophomore year.
Jillian Smith was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at West Virginia University on November 2. The NSCS is an honor society for high achieving first and second year collegiate students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and a commitment to the society's ideals of scholarship, leadership and service.
Smith is majoring in dental hygiene through the School of Dentistry at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.
A 2002 graduate of Brockport High School, she is the daughter of Char and Todd Smith of Clarkson.
Erica Smith was named to the dean's list with a 4.0 GPA for the spring semester at Butler University, College of Pharmacy located in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is in her sixth year of the doctor of pharmacy program and completing her internship at Strong Memorial Hospital. A 1998 graduate of Brockport High School, she is the daughter of Char and Todd Smith of Clarkson.

To be eligible, students must demonstrate significant achievement, including maintaining an overall grade point average of 3.0 (out of 4.0) or better. Joining the SUNY Brockport Beta Tau Chapter from the region is Nichole Holden of North Greece Road.

Kevin J. and Kyle R. Boyst have both been promoted to their present rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class.
Kevin is stationed at the Navy's Top Gun school in Fallon, Nevada and serves as a master of Arms in the Military Police Unit.
Kyle, an aviation electrician, is a member of Fleet Logistical Squadron VR-62 based out of Brunswick, Maine.
They are the sons of Jarl and Doris Boyst of Brockport.
Marine Corps Pfc. Kyle J. Costanzo, a 2003 graduate of Spencerport High School, completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.
Navy Ensign Kevin C. Gorecke, son of Linda M. and Robert J. Gorecke of Spencerport, received his commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Pensacola, Florida.
Gorecke is a 1998 graduate of Spencerport High School.
Coast Guard Reserve Seaman Apprentice Ryan T. Charcholla, son of Monica and Robin A. Charcholla of Bergen, graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, New Jersey.
Charcholla is a 2003 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School of Bergen.
