Bright Raven Gymnasts win Judges Cup
Bright Raven Gymnastics was the big winner at the 2003 Annual Judges Cup held in Rochester November 8 and 9. Nearly 300 gymnasts from throughout Upstate New York represented 16 teams and Bright Raven finished first in both the Compulsory and Optional Team divisions.
The Compulsory Team category included Levels 4 through 6. In the Level 6 division for gymnasts age 13 and over, Erin Kolb of Chili took first all around (36.825), first on balance beam (9.25), first in vault (9.05) and second on the uneven parallel bars (9.275). Allison Grove of Chili was first on uneven bars (9.45). Emily Gutknecht of Rochester was first on floor exercise (9.80). Kara Golis of Churchville placed second in vault (8.80) and third all around (35.20) and Nicole Morone of Chili was third on bars (8.75). In the 12-year-old Level 6 division, Amanda Arcieri of Chili took first on vault (8.95), second on bars (9.00) and floor (9.50) and third all around (35.l5). In the Level 5 competition for ages 13 and over, Ashley Milizia of Chili was first all around (34.20) and also took first on bars (9.25) and third on vault (8.425). In the Level 4 competition for 9-10 year olds, Kristina Nupp of Churchville was first all around (36.625), first on floor exercise (9.275) and third on bars (8.85). Emily Arnold of Gates took second on bars (8.90) and Haley Cunningham of LeRoy took third on beam (9.10). In the Level 4, 11 and over division, Meghan Gutknecht of Rochester was first all around (36.75), first on bars (9.20) and second on beam (9.15) and floor (9.05). Amanda Kubitz of Spencerport was second on vault (9.575) and Lauren Daggs of Churchville was second on bars (9.15).
The Optional Team included Levels 7 through 10. Competing as a Level 10 in the 15 and over division, Brittany Burr of Greece took first place in vaulting (9.45), and third place in both balance beam (8.45) and floor exercise (9.00). In the Level 9 competition for gymnasts ages 14-15, Justine Picciano of Henrietta was first on beam (8.825), first in floor exercise (9.025) and third in vaulting (8.55). Kerry Apeland of Chili was third all around (31.20). Tracy Apeland of Chili finished in third place in vault (8.80) in the Level 9 division for gymnasts ages 16 and over. In the Level 8 division for gymnasts age 14, Julie Mingoea of Spencerport was first all around (35.60) and also took first in vaulting (9.50), second on the uneven bars (8.75) and second on beam (8.45). In the 15 and over division, Christine Manthei of Chili took second all around (35.65), second on bars (9.10) and third on beam (8.60). Danielle Palumbo of North Chili was third on bars (9.05) in the same division. Competing Level 7 ages 11 and under, Holly Pzybyla of Greece was first all around (36.25), first on beam (9.20), first on floor (9.30) and third on bars (9.05). Alyssa Kober of Ogden was third all around (35.50) in the 12-year-old division, and was also second on vault (9.175) and third on bars (8.80). In Level 7 for gymnasts 13 and over, Breanna Fischer of Spencerport took second all around (35.125), second in floor exercise (9.225) and third on beam (8.75). Amber Kober of Ogden was first on vault (9.50). Sabrina Hill of Hamlin was first on bars (9.45), and third on vault (9.20), floor (9.175) and all around (35.075).
