Volunteers needed for free
tax counseling program for the elderly
Rural Opportunities, Incorporated (ROI), in cooperation with St. John Fisher College, needs volunteers for their volunteer Tax Counseling for the Elderly program in Rochester and the surrounding counties.
Volunteers will receive 20 hours of free income tax preparation training. No prior experience is necessary.
They will be asked to volunteer for 10 to 20 hours each week during tax season.
Training will take place on four consecutive Saturdays, January 10, 17, 24 and 31 at St. John Fisher College.
Volunteer should attend all four sessions; however videos are available if the volunteer is unable to attend one of the training sessions.
There is also a great need for translators for Spanish-speaking clients and/or bilingual volunteers.
