Four historic homes open up for holiday tour
Take a step back into time and see what 19th Century life was like in Clarkson during the annual Holiday Homes Tour sponsored by the Clarkson Historical Society. On Saturday, December 13 from 1 to 4 p.m., four historic homes in the Town of Clarkson will be opening their doors to the public as a part of this popular tour. The $7 ticket price will gain you admission into the 1819 Selden House, where the true inventor of the automobile once lived. You'll also be able to visit the 1828 Simeon Jewitt House, the Lemuel Haskell House and the Cunningham House. If weather permits, there will also be a tour of the 1854 Clarkson Schoolhouse that is currently under restoration by the Society. All of these homes have been lovingly preserved and restored over the years and are clustered near the intersection of Routes 104 and 19. Tickets may be purchased at the Clarkson Town Hall in advance or on the day of the tour. All proceeds to benefit the Clarkson Historical Society and their efforts to preserve and restore local heritage. For information, call 637-5810 or 395-1674.
