Richard Ugino of Hilton, a senior majoring in musical theater at Syracuse University, has been selected as a college marshal for the University's College of Visual and Performing Arts.

College marshals are selected annually by each of Syracuse University's 11 schools and colleges on the basis of academic achievement, involvement in student organizations, and campus and community service. College marshals have the honor of leading the procession of graduates from his or her school or college into the commencement ceremony, which will be held on May 9 in the Carrier Dome.


Area Monroe County residents have each been awarded scholarships to attend Alfred State College.

Heather Fisher of Rochester was awarded approximately $3,000 for the Presidential Scholarship. Fisher is slated to graduate in 2004 from Spencerport High School and intends to enroll in the engineering science program.

Chad Borden of Rochester was awarded approximately $2,000 for the All-American Scholarship. Borden is slated to graduate in 2004 from Greece Olympia High School and intends to enroll in the architectural engineering technology program.

Eric Bodhorn of Rochester was awarded approximately $2,000 for the All-American Scholarship. Bodhorn is slated to graduate in 2004 from Spencerport High School and intends to enroll in the mechanical engineering technology program.

The Presidential Scholarship (free room, double occupancy) is awarded to students who possess a 90 or better high school average through their junior year and who have achieved a minimum SAT score of 1150 or a composite ACT score of 25. Recipients must maintain a required GPA (grade point average) to continue to receive free room in subsequent semesters.

The All-American Scholarship (free board) is awarded to students who possess an 88 or better high school average through their junior year and who have achieved at least a 1100 combined SAT score or a composite ACT score of 24. Recipients must maintain a required GPA (grade point average) to continue to receive board in subsequent semesters.


Jenna Lee Barber of Holley, a sophomore majoring in musical theater in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University, participated in the Syracuse University Drama Department's musical production of "Hurlyburly." Barber was the understudy for the role of Bonnie.


Jennifer Ann Wells of Hilton, a senior majoring in information management and technology at Syracuse University, has been selected as a college marshal for the University's School of Information Studies.

Scott Ellsworth, son of Carol Ellsworth of Spencerport, and a business and marketing major at Clarkson University, is a member of the university's award-winning Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization's (CEO) team that took home three awards at CEO's national convention held in Chicago.

The Clarkson University chapter of CEO, an entrepreneurship network serving more than 500 colleges and universities worldwide, received the Best Teaching Award, along with two runner-up awards for Best Chapter Fundraiser and Best Chapter Exhibit. This is only the second time the Clarkson team has competed. Last year the team won Best Chapter Web Page and Best Chapter Business Plan.


Joan Greeno, Associate Broker of Nothnagle Realtor's Chili-Ogden Office, was once again awarded recognition by the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors (GRAR). Joan was presented the "Sales Master Award" for 2003 at GRAR's annual awards luncheon held on November 19, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This honor is given to agents who have 35 or more closed transactions and/or achieve a production level of $4 million or more during a specific 12-month period.

For almost two decades Greeno has given full-time service and commitment to her real estate clients. While she works primarily in residential sales (including single- and multi-family homes), condominiums and town homes, she also has extensive experience in new home construction, investment properties and relocation services. Joan is currently representing Builder & Developer, Ken Brongo, at Spanish Trail Subdivision in Ogden, off Spencerport Road just west of Manitou. Greeno also belongs to the Rochester-area Womens' Council of Realtors (WCR).

As an active member of Pearce Memorial Church in North Chili, Greeno has served on several committees, as well as being a former trustee. She resides in Chili with her husband, Larry, who is vice president for planned giving at Roberts Wesleyan College. Joan has four grown children and seven grandchildren.

Greeno, one of Nothnagle's "Top 25" agents out of 600, received recognition for being both "Top Salesperson" and "Top Lister" for the month of October. The award is based on the highest volume of sales (approximately 1.5 million in production) and having the highest number of listings for the month.


Coast Guard Seaman Recruit Peter M. Boggeln, son of Nancy A. and James M. Boggeln of Rochester, graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, New Jersey.
