Brockport Fire Department elects new chief officers
At the annual election of chief officers December 4, the membership of the Brockport Fire Department selected the chief officers for 2004.
Unopposed in his bid for district fire chief, Christian A. McCullough was elected the 41st Chief of the Brockport Fire Department. McCullough, 39, joined the fire department in 1984. He served as deputy chief for the past three years and assistant chief for two years prior to that. In addition, he was company lieutenant, company captain and department recruit training officer. McCullough has been a career firefighter with the City of Rochester Fire Department since 1988 where he attended the Fire Academy to earn the classification of NYS Certified Firefighter. McCullough is currently the RFD house captain at Engine 16. He has attended the First Line Supervisors Training offered by the Fire Department of New York at their academy in New York City. McCullough is looking forward to taking over from Gregory Wing, who has held the position for the last three years. He says he feels that his chosen career coupled with his volunteer experience and training will benefit the leadership team as well as the department and community as a whole. McCullough is also a certified NYS Emergency Medical Technician and an active member of the Brockport Ambulance Corps.
Mark H. Warner, also running unopposed, was elected to serve as the Deputy Chief. Warner, 44, has been involved in fighting fires since joining in 1981. Warner has participated in the U-Crest Fire Department in the Buffalo area, volunteered for Gates Chili Fire Department, prior to securing his current employment as a career firefighter with the Gates Fire District. Through his volunteer officer positions of lieutenant and captain, as well as his career experience, Warner brings a strong understanding of the challenges facing the fire service today and hopes to encourage volunteers to work with the new administration to continue to aid in bringing the Brockport Fire Department to the next level.
New to the chief's office is Timothy J. Rombaut. Rombaut, 36, has been around firehouses his whole life. He is following in the footsteps of his father and uncle, both former chiefs of the fire department. Rombaut joined the department in 1985 and has served previously as captain for seven years and numerous years before that as lieutenant and in a variety of other positions. He has attended training applicable to the fire service locally, at the Fire Department Instructor's Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, and through his employment as a heavy equipment operator with the Town of Clarkson.
The new officers names will be forwarded to the Brockport Board of Trustees for confirmation of election.
