Hanscomb win leads Brockport
Hilton graduate Pat Hanscomb defeated Kendall native Troy Tooley in overtime and Danny Song registered the only home team pin as 4th ranked Brockport defeated Cortland 31-3 in college wrestling.
Hanscomb and Tooley entered overtime tied 5-5 before Hanscomb registered a takedown at the 7:12 mark in the extra session for his eighth collegiate victory. Song started the match with a pin in 6:20 in the 141 lb. class.
Seniors Artie Wiedler and Rob Cuffie, both ranked second nationally in their weight classes, also won - Wiedler at 165 lb. 6-2 and Cuffie by a 12-6 score at 197 lb. For Cuffie it was his 25th collegiate victory.
Other winners for Brockport were sophomore Mario Schiano, who won a major decision at 174 lb. 16-6. Senior Richard D'Amico won his 184 lb. match 5-3, Andy Boice won at 157 lb. 6-3, Duncan Iannucci won 5-2 at heavyweight and Tony D'Ambra won at 133 lb. 9-4.
The Golden Eagles also finished in first place at the multi-team Messiah College Open just three days later.
