Hilton's Mickey Toy Drive a "Huge Success"

Students and staff members throughout the Hilton Central School District, along with Hilton-area business and civic organizations, donated more than $900 and hundreds of toys to shelters this holiday season through the "Mickey Toy Drive" in memory of Hilton High School junior Matt "Mickey" Mikolaichik who died tragically in an automobile crash in October. Organized by Hilton HS Social Studies teacher Johnna Roman, right, students in her class, shown with a portion of the donations, are, (from left) Amanda Davis, Jamie Miller, Lauren Rotella, Joey Christiano and Colin Smith. Donations from the Hilton Lions Club, Hilton-Parma Chamber of Commerce, Merton Williams Middle School Student Council, the Hilton Central School Teachers Association, Merton Williams' Kappa 8 Team, and private individuals were received. Local families, area shelters, the Angel Project of the Society for the Protection and Care of Children, the Golisano Children's Hospital, Brighton Surgicenter and Park Ridge Hospital children's ward all were recipients of the toys. "We are so thankful to everyone who showed their support," Roman said.
