Rangers serve 15 aces in win
Laura Stultz and Samantha Hawn each registered six kills and the team combined for 15 serving aces over four games in a 25-12, 25-12, 25-27, 25-19 win over Pittsford-Mendon in girl's volleyball.
The Rangers jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first game and never looked back as Stultz picked up five of her six kills. The second game stayed close until the Rangers had a 9-0 run including a pair of aces by Jessica Bartock.
In game three, the Rangers held a five-point lead at 15-10 and a three-point lead on match point, but allowed Mendon to tie the game and win in overtime. Mendon then took a 4-1 lead in the fourth game before Spencerport woke up with Kelly Schweikert serving 11 straight points. Mendon then had a 9-1 run of their own to take the lead at 18-17, but the Rangers closed out the match with an ace and a great dig off a kill attempt by Bartock for the match point.
Caitlin O'Brien led with 15 assists and Schweikert had five of the team's aces as the Rangers improved to 5-3.
