Monroe County Christmas tree recycling sites
Christmas tree recycling locations are available across the county at no charge to residents. Towns, villages, and the City of Rochester encourage residents to recycle their Christmas trees instead of discarding them in local landfills.
Residents are asked to remove all decorations, plastic bags, wires and nails from trees to avoid damaging equipment and to assure high quality landscape mulch.
The recycled Christmas trees are ground into wood chips and are used to landscape public property such as hiking trails in county parks. Some drop-off locations offer the wood chips to participating residents for use in their own gardens. In such instances, residents need to bring their own containers if they want to take mulch home.
