Blue Devils improve to 4-1

Brockport received goals from four different players and goaltender Pat Young stopped 27 shots in net as the Blue Devils defeated Rush-Henrietta 4-2 in a high school hockey game played at the ESL SportsCentre.

Defenseman Kyle Filipowicz put the Blue Devils up 1-0 when he rifled a shot into the net off a face-off won by Craig Willis half way through the first period. Three minutes later, Brandon Dries made it 2-0 Brockport when he knocked the puck in after a scramble in the Comets goal mouth with Willis and Spencer Trafton getting assists. For Willis, the two assists give him ten points in five division games this season.

The Blue Devils scored the only goal of the second period when Eric McJury fed John Holding who skated the length of the ice and stuffed the puck in the net for his first goal this season in divisional play and a 3-0 lead.

The Royal Comets finally got on the scoreboard midway through the final period and added another goal with just over three minutes left in the game making the score 3-2 Brockport. Rush-Henrietta pulled their goaltender for the extra attacker, but Jarrod Minor took a pass from Dries and found the empty net to seal the win.

Brockport improved to 4-1 in divisional play with the victory and is in a four-team race with Penfield, Fairport and the Greece Thunder for top spot in the Red Division of the Monroe County High School Hockey League.
