Hawks win with seven pins
Seven wrestlers netted pins and Holley improved to 4-0 this season with a 65-14 victory over Byron-Bergen in high school wrestling.
The Hawks won the first seven matches to take a 38-0 lead before the Bees won three of the next four. Holley won the last four matches to ice the win.
Randy Davis pinned his man in 5:49 at 152 lb. to start the match and Sam Miller won with a 2-0 decision. Jordan Hughson at 171 lb. and Justin Cordova at 189 lb. won by pin in 1:34 and :48 respectively before the Hawks took two matches by forfeit.
Freshman Matt Banks pinned his man in 1:31 at 96 lb. before the Bees Ben Sheridan took a 4-0 decision. Byron-Bergen's Mike McInally at 119 lb. won by pin in the second period and Steve McInally at 125 lb. both pinned his opponent in the third period to finish the Bees scoring.
The two closest bouts of the match featured Holley's Jake Robinson taking a tight 9-8 decision after being down 4-0 at 130 lb. before Hawks freshman Key McPherson came from 4-2 and 6-4 deficits to pin his man with just ten seconds left in his match. Rob Baylor at 140 lb. and Andrew Grillo at 145 lb. both registered pins for Holley to finish the scoring.
