Rangers Russell, Hopkins 1-2 in diving

Chris Russell and Nate Hopkins finished first and second in diving as Spencerport fell to top-ranked Penfield 110-71 in high school boy's swimming.

Russell finished with 148.50 points as the only Rangers competitor with a first place finish. Hopkins was right behind with 140.45 points. Penfield swam the final two events exhibition when the meet result was no longer in doubt.

Other top finishers for Spencerport were Doug Bennett in second place in the 100-butterfly in 57.98 and the 200-freestyle relay team of Russell, Hopkins, Bennett and Adam Zioblowski finishing second in 1:40.83.

Hopkins added a third place finish in the 50-freestyle, Russell placed third in the 100-freestyle and Scott Gunther finished third in the 500-freestyle and the 100-backstroke.

Spencerport fell to 3-5 with the loss. Penfield is ranked number one in Section Five.
