Students build "Shangri-La" for Home Fair Expo competition

Principal Lydia McCabe of Hilton's Quest Elementary School talks with students about the school's model "Shangri-La." The model was built out of bamboo, balsa wood, hay and other materials using the knowledge students learned in their Design Technology Class. The student builders in teacher Darrel Dupra's classroom were: Emily Jones, Kara Pettifer, Bianca Camillaci, Brittany Davide, Michael Vermeulen, Joey Crumlish and Mike Rockafellow. They entered their model house in a contest sponsored by the Better Contractors Bureau of Rochester where their house will compete against 20 other scale models designed by area students and youth groups. The models will be on display at the Monroe County Home Fair Expo sponsored by the Better Contractors Bureau held February 28 - March 2 at the Dome Fair Center, 2695 East Henrietta Road, Rochester. Visitors to the Home Fair Expo cast ballots for the top houses.
