State grants awarded to Orleans, Niagara counties

Assembly Republican Leader Charles H. Nesbitt (R,C-Albion) and Governor George E. Pataki last week announced $45,000 in grants to aid both Niagara and Orleans Counties in preparing strategic plans for community development.

Niagara County will receive $20,000 and Orleans County will receive $25,000, the maximum amount allowable under the program, which is administered by the Governor's Office for Small Cities Community and Development Program.

The grants are among $490,000 in awards to 28 communities throughout the state.
