Bright Raven gymnasts take second place in Buffalo
Bright Raven Gymnastics Level 4 team took second place at the 2004 Girls Buffalo Challenge held January 25 at the Greater Buffalo Gymnastics Center. Several gymnasts earned individual all around honors also.
In the 9-11 age division, Kristina Nupp took second place all around (37.25). Lauren Daggs was fifth (36.50) and Emily Arnold placed sixth (36.375). In the 12 and over division, Nicole Bonferraro took third place all around (35.625) and Megan Saraceni was fourth (35.375).
As a team, Bright Raven finished in second place with a team total of 185.425 just behind Gymnastics Unlimited of Orchard Park who scored 185.65.
Bright Raven Gymnastics boys earn medals
Bright Raven Gymnastics Boys Team competed in a USA Gymnastics local meet held January 25 at the Gymnastics Training Center in Penfield, earning many medals.
Kevin Kirkland of Greece captured first place all around in the Class 5 competition for gymnasts age 12 and over with a score of 50.45. In the individual events, he also took first on still rings (8.50), vault (9.45), parallel bars (8.30) and high bar (8.00). He was second on floor exercise (8.00) and pommel horse (8.20).
Competing Class 6 in the 7-9 age division, John Fitzgerald of Churchville earned second place all around (49.00). He was also second on vault (8.50), parallel bars (8.50) and high bar (8.60). He finished in third place on the rings (8.60).
In the Class 7 competition for 8-9 year olds, Ryan Kisker of Chili took second place in three events: floor exercise (9.40), pommel horse (9.00), and high bar (9.00) and place second all around (53.70). Carson Reber of Brockport placed third in floor exercise (9.30). Shawn Henderson of Fairport competed in the 10-11 age division earning a medal in every event. He was second on high bar (8.40) and third in floor exercise (7.50), pommel horse (8.90), rings (8.80), vault (7.45) and parallel bars (8.90). His all around total of (49.95) was also good for third place. In the 6-7 age division, Jake DeAngelis of Churchville earned second place on the parallel bars (9.30).
