Salmin, Vitale post Saints wins

Freshman Paul Salmin and eighth grader Chris Vitale posted wins and Joe Telaro won via forfeit as Churchville-Chili lost a 61-14 decision on Gates Chili in high school wrestling.

After the Telaro forfeit to start the match, Vitale scored a takedown in the first period, an escape and a takedown in the second and two more takedowns in the third enroute to his 9-1 decision at 112 lb. giving the Saints a 10-0 lead.

After the Spartans won five straight matches, Salmin scored all of his points in two periods with one takedown and four back points in the first and adding a takedown and three back points in the second for his 11-1 win in the only other victory for the Saints.

Churchville-Chili, featuring one eighth grader, 14 freshmen, ten sophomores, just one junior and no seniors, finished the season with a 2-8 record with wins over Penn Yan ad Livonia.
