Rangers fall to Olympia
Spencerport led by nine points at halftime, but could not hang on as Greece Olympia defeated them 62-48 in high school boy's basketball.
Olympia took a two point lead after the first quarter, but the Rangers used a match-up zone and held the Spartans to just two points while they scored 13 in the second quarter to take the locker room lead.
Olympia stormed out of halftime with an 11-2 run to tie the game 28-28 with 3:40 left in the third quarter. Spencerport got two free throws from Nick Droegmueller and a jumper from Matt Miller to regain a four point lead, but the Spartans closed the quarter by scoring the last six points to lead by two.
Olympia took over in the final quarter scoring 15 of the next 20 points to take a commanding ten-point lead they extended even further by outscoring the Rangers 30-16 over the final nine minutes of the contest.
Mike Placito led the Rangers with 12 points and Miller scored ten to go with his six rebounds. Droegmueller led with eight rebounds with six points, Mark Miller scored five and Chris Albano and Joe Militello each scored four points. David Snowden pulled down six rebounds in the game.
Spencerport fell to 3-14 for the season with two wins over Webster Schroeder and one against Brighton.
