RPYO holds spring auditions

RPYO (Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra) auditions for new student musicians for the 2004-2005 season will take place on May 6-8, in the RPO Offices on East Avenue. Advanced student musicians who are currently in at least the seventh grade and who participate in a school's instrumental ensemble are eligible to audition.

The youth orchestra of 90 to 100 musicians draws students from over 30 schools throughout the greater Rochester area. Dr. David Harman, professor and director of orchestral ensembles at the University of Rochester and music director of the Penfield Symphony Orchestra, has served as RPYO Music Director for eleven years.

Audition application materials are available from the RPYO Office by calling 454-7311 ext. 224 and from the RPYO web site www.rpyo.org. The audition deadline is April 22.

Interested students and their parents are invited to drop in and observe the RPYO's rehearsal at Apollo Middle School on Sunday, March 14, from 2 to 4:45 p.m. Apollo Middle School is located at 750 Maiden Lane in Greece near the crossing of Maiden Lane and Mt. Read Blvd. Parking is behind the school. Families may enter the cafeteria on the ground level directly off the parking area.
