Speaker on "The Passion of the Christ" to combine
film professor and church pastor perspectives
Mel Gibson's, "The Passion of the Christ," will be the topic of a presentation by Mark DuPre on the SUNY College at Brockport campus 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 10. The program, including discussion, will take place in the Blue Room of the Edwards Building. Entrance to the Edwards Building is on Holley Street across from the Fine Arts Building. The program is sponsored by BASIC (Brothers and Sisters in Christ) and InterVarsity campus organizations. Admission is free and open to the public.
DuPre will cover "The Passion of the Christ" as a work of film art from the perspective of a film professor. Also, he will discuss the film as an expression of faith. His comments will include the controversies about the film's violence and suitability for children as well as the charges of anti-Semitism.
DuPre is associate pastor of Christ Community Church in Brockport and adjunct professor of film at Rochester Institute of Technology where he has taught since 1998.
