Camp Invention®, a national creativity and science enrichment program, hosted by Munn School
William C. Munn Elementary School will host Camp Invention®, a national summer day camp that encourages children to develop their innate creative abilities. It will be held July 12 to 16 from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. for children entering second through sixth grade in the 2004-2005 school year.
Camp Invention is designed to stimulate learning by providing children with hands-on, interactive activities that encourage creative solutions. Children participate in five inventive modules each day, which include: disassembling old appliances and using the parts to make their own invention; figuring out how to get back to earth after crash landing on an imaginary planet; and making safety devices for cars, skateboards and even an egg.
Camp Invention is a project of the National Inventors Hall of Fame®, a nationally recognized, non-profit resource center for creativity in Akron, Ohio. It is presented in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It was offered in 17 schools across Upstate NY last summer, and over 600 schools in 42 states will host Camp Invention this summer.
A special early registration rate is in effect through March 15. Contact Regional Coordinator for details or visit the web site: www.campinvention.org.
