Hilton's Farnham Coach of the Year
Hilton High School hockey coach John Farnham was named Coach of the Year in the White Division of the Monroe County High School Hockey League for the 2003-04 season.
The Cadets finished with a 13-5-3 record overall and 10-2-2 in divisional play; good enough for a second place tie with Batavia. One of the two losses was in overtime to Churchville-Chili.
"We finished 18-7 with nine seniors last season. This year we only had five seniors so there were fewer expectations. We had a good year, but it never feels good after losing the last game." The fifth ranked Cadets lost in the sectional playoffs to Irondequoit.
Farnham just finished his ninth season behind the Hilton bench and had previously played Division III hockey at R.I.T. This is his third Coach of the Year honor.
"It's nice to be recognized. I think that it wasn't so much the coaching staff, but the way the players performed. We just told them what to do and they usually went out and did it. It's nice, but I don't let it go to my head or anything like that."
