Parma Town Board updates Fairfield Place proposal
The draft environmental impact statement for the Fairfield Place development is due back to the Parma Town Board in the near future. At the March town board meeting, the board reported to concerned citizens that all but four of the 100 points of concern had been addressed by the engineers, and that as soon as this was completed the report would be given to the town board.
After the report is submitted, there will be a period for public comment. Town Board member Richard Yolevich said his understanding was that another public hearing on the matter was not mandated, but that the board had not yet determined what course of action they would take.
Yolevich said accepting the study does not mean the developer will automatically be cleared to build.
"We're going to do our absolute best," said Yolevich. "No stone will remain unturned."
Tina Brown, from the No RIP group (No Rezoning in Parma) was in attendance at the meeting. "At this point it is really wait and see," said Brown. "It was a productive meeting, but not a lot has happened with this project."
The proposed residential development calls for building apartments, town homes, patio homes, senior housing and single family homes on a site located on the west side of Manitou Road, just north of Ridge Road West. In total it would include 599 units on a 140-acre lot.
