Victorian tea to celebrate Brockport's 175th anniversary
A Birthday Victorian Tea will be held on Sunday, March 14, as one of several events to celebrate Brockport's 175th anniversary. The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Board Room of the Village Hall, 49 State Street in Brockport. Victorian dress, such as hat and white gloves for ladies, is optional. Also an option, guests may bring their own tea cup and the prettiest and oldest will win a prize. Food will be provided as a courtesy of the Red Bird Tea Room. The event is open and free to the public. Reservations can be made by calling the Village Hall at 637-5300.
The event is one of several celebrations being planned throughout 2004 by a volunteer Brockport 175th Anniversary Committee. Coming up in the month of April with details to be announced: April 6, a Brockport commemorative post mark at the Brockport Post Office; April 18, "Early Brockport," skits sponsored by the Western Monroe Historical Society (postponed from January 15); April 24, Max's Mardi Gras parade; April 26, a birthday cake at the Hill School; April 27, slides of old Brockport by Village Historian Jackie Morris at the Sweden Senior Center.
