Rachael McAnallen, nationally recognized math educator, visited Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES to work with teachers on how to introduce algebra into the elementary and middle school math curriculum. Educators recognize that it is necessary to speak and write the language of algebra to succeed in higher-level mathematics. The workshop, entitled "A Language of Mathematics: Algebra for All Grades!" was open to all teachers in the Rochester area. Here, Deb DiPasquale (left) and Lee Ann Cervini, both from Spencerport, play a number game that they can use with their students to help them become algebraic problem solvers.
