Comfort quilts
make a difference
The Rose Cottage Quilters Bee held a "sew day" last fall to prepare comfort quilts for the local Red Cross in conjunction with Make A Difference Day. A sampling of the quilts was on display at the Greece-Ridge Mall for Quilters Make A Difference Day in November. The event was organized by the Greater Rochester Quilters Consortium, a group of Rochester-area quilting groups. The Rose Cottage Quilters Bee, founded in 1999 by local quilting instructor Barbara Sackel, meets monthly at the Spencerport Wesleyan Church. Over forty completed quilts were presented to representatives of the Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross at a recent meeting of the Rose Cottage Quilters. Materials for the quilts were donated by members of the Quilting Bee and the Quilting Parlor, a quilt shop in Churchville. Shown, front (l to r) - Cathy Hallatt, Kelly Halvonik, Beverly Whiteman, Charlotte Harris; back (l to r) Fran Colby, Lois Marvin, Nancy Pangrazio, Linda Ruggles.
