GCASA expands into Holley
Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (GCASA) began offering outpatient treatment services at its new satellite office in Holley earlier this month. Located at 32 East Albion Street (behind the Presbyterian Church), the office will serve people from Eastern Orleans and Western Monroe counties.
"It can be time consuming for people living in the Holley/Brockport area to travel to our Albion clinic for a counseling appointment," says John Bennett, treatment director. "Providing more convenient access makes it easier for people to get the help they need."
In addition to its main clinics in Albion and Batavia, GCASA operates satellite offices in Indian Falls, LeRoy, Medina and now Holley. In 2003, the agency served 1,861 individuals in its treatment programs; of these 235 people received services at its satellite offices. GCASA also provides EAP, prevention and residential programs and has served literally thousands of Orleans and Genesee County residents since its founding in 1975.
Like its other offices, the Holley office will accommodate self-referrals as well as individuals referred for service from other community service providers such as physicians, school counselors, employers, probation officers and concerned family members. In addition, people who wish to schedule their EAP appointments in Holley, rather than traveling to Albion, will have that option.
Says Bennett, "We made the decision to expand into Eastern Orleans County almost two years ago. It's taken awhile to secure all the required approvals and find just the right space but it couldn't have worked out better. Holley is the perfect place to be."
The Holley office is open on Monday and Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m. Appointments for Holley, and GCASA's other Orleans County offices, can be made by calling 589-0055; to schedule an appointment in Genesee County, call 343-1124.
