Brockport High School named
one of 30 model high schools nationally

Brockport High School has been selected as one of 30 model high schools nationwide to participate in a project sponsored by the Council of Chief State School Officers, Washington, D.C. and the International Center for Leadership in Education, Rexford, NY.

The project, "Bringing Best Practices to Scale," will gather information on how the high schools provide all students with a rigorous and relevant education. The high schools will share their successful practices at the 2004 Model Schools Conference in Washington, D.C. on June 25-28.

Criteria for selection as a model high school include a learning environment that promotes high achievement, use of data to make instructional decisions, a rigorous and relevant curriculum, professional development for instructional staff members, parental involvement, community support, and increased student learning time. Project Lead the Way, whose pre-engineering programs have been implemented at the high school, identified Brockport for inclusion in the project for its innovative thinking and best practices.

The Model Schools Conference attracts 1,500 education leaders annually, who convene to learn about successful and exemplary elementary, middle, and high schools across the country. Case studies prepared by the International Center on the 30 high schools serve as a resource for educators and policy makers. Visit http://www.leadered.com for details.
