Putting what they've learned to work
Not only are the second grade students at Kendall Elementary learning about being responsible students, they are also learning about community helpers. Some students got to put this learning into practice. Students in Mrs. Downey's second grade gave the Buildings and Ground Crew a helping hand on January 29, by digging a path to the classroom's emergency fire escape exits. Drifts were topping the windows in several classrooms. The snow was heavy and packed but Mrs. Downey and the well dressed second graders worked as a team as they battled the snow and wind. Their ability to recognize this community need and a personal responsibility to keep themselves and others safe were appreciated by many.
