Bernabi School to become 'Living Museum' on March 25
Bernabi Elementary School will showcase Spencerport history on March 25 when students create a "living museum" with examples of schools, clothing and household chores from the past. Families are invited to see student displays, plus view exhibits and meet local guests, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the school. Also participating are the Ogden Town Historian, Ogden Historical Society and the Ogden Farmers' Library, which donated items from its historical collection for the event.
As part of their curriculum, Bernabi students have studied "Changes Over Time" this month and have attended workshops on such topics as quilting, trains, tools, manners, and games of the past.
"This has been exciting because these types of projects give children a deeper connection to their town," said Judy Gluchowski, enrichment specialist at Bernabi and Taylor elementary schools. "This gives our students a different perspective on history that they can personally experience."
Admission is free. For information, contact the school at 349-5402.
