FEMA grant funds available for utilities

FEMA grant money for assistance with utility costs is now available from The American Red Cross in Orleans County and Genesee/Orleans Ministry of Concern. FEMA grant money is also available through Community Action of Orleans County to assist with housing.

In order to be eligible for FEMA assistance for utilities, applicants must have exhausted all other resources. (HEAP, Care & Share and similar programs). Only one month payment will be applied to the utility in arrears. Utilities include electric, gas, water and heating sources (oil, propane, and wood); the delivery of alternate heating sources is limited to the maximum allowable by the company.
