Fair holds variety show auditions
The Youth Taking Action Committee of the Monroe County Fair Association will hold auditions for a variety show, which will be held at the 2004 Monroe County Fair. Auditions will take place on Saturday, May 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Building #2 on the Fairgrounds, 2695 East Henrietta Road. Auditions are open to singers, dancers, bands, clowns, magicians, jugglers and steppers between the ages of 5 and 19. Groups are welcome. Acts must pre-register by May 14 in order to obtain an audition time. Call 334-4000 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Youth Taking Action Committee members will decide selection of the acts for performance at the fair, and all decisions of the judges are final.
The variety show at this year's county fair is partially funded by a grant from the Rochester Area Community Foundation and the Rochester-Monroe County Youth Bureau through the Youth As Resources Program. The goal is to influence youth to stay drug free by using their time and talents in a positive way. The show will incorporate an anti-drug and anti-smoking message when it is presented on July 16 and 17 on the Legman's Music City Stage during the county fair.
