Radu family fundraiser a success

Two Ogden area groups joined together to raise funds for the Radu family of Spencerport. The members of the MOMS Club of Spencerport/Churchville and staff of Leo Bernabi Elementary School raised over $3,800 from a spaghetti dinner held April 2. MOM's Club members did the set up and the Bernabi staff served the 500 diners. In addition, over 50 items donated by area businesses were auctioned. Linda VanDerStarre, one of the organizers, said, "I would like to thank all in the community who came together to support this cause. I especially would like to thank the kitchen staff who worked tirelessly from 2 to 9 p.m. that day. We all left with a feeling of a job well done." Mrs. Radu a recent immigrant to the United States, was killed in a car accident in December 2003. Several of her children attend the Spencerport school.
