Tessa Ellis, daughter of Robert and Janet Ellis, Brockport, received an "Outstanding Fire Safety Essay Award" from past Brockport Deputy Fire Chief, Mark Warner. She is a 6th grader at Cornerstone Christian Academy.


Ronald Sadler, a UPS employee, was honored for completing 25 years of service with the company. Sadler, who is a package delivery driver with UPS in Henrietta, began his UPS career as a package preloader. He was promoted to his current position in 1984. "I enjoy working in my own community for UPS," he said. "It is a demanding, yet very rewarding job. I'd like to thank my wife and daughters for their support through the years." Sadler and his wife, Shelley, are residents of North Chili. They have three children.


Joanna E. Nicodemus was crowned Miss Upstate New York Teenager 2004, on April 3. She is the daughter of Rev. Blake and Sandy Nicodemus of Ogden. She will be competing in Norwich, NY in August for the title of Miss New York Teenager.

Nicodemus is a home schooled senior with a 3.93 GPA. She will be attending Oral Roberts University this fall, where she will be majoring in American history, with a double minor in music and public relations.


Matthew Montanaro, of Quail Lane, Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for the winter quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A 5th-year student in RIT's College of Science, Montanaro is studying physics.

The son of Nick and Romea Montanaro, he is a 2001 graduate of Aquinas Institute.


Greg Shone, son of John and Karen Shone of Hilton, has successfully completed his fire fighting training in North Charleston, South Carolina. He has accepted a fire fighting position with the Hazardous Materials Unit at Station 3 in North Charleston.


Thirty-four members of the Class of 2004 at St. John Fisher College will be included in the 2004 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Since 1934, Who's Who has furthered the aims of higher education by rewarding and recognizing individual academic excellence on a national level.

These outstanding campus leaders, nominated by Fisher faculty and staff, are honored for academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

Local students honored this year are: Mark Bellavia; Kristen Bisaillon; Stefania Carrano; Elizabeth Amato Fleck; John Follaco; Markos Frangakis; Dejan Jozic; Rosemarie Kain; Elaina Rodriguez; Stephanie Sodeman; Theresa Surace.


Patrick M. Bolton of Kendall Road, Kendall, will be a candidate for a baccalaureate degree in trade subjects education at SUNY Oswego's 143rd Commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 15. Bolton is scheduled to graduate summa cum laude, with highest honor (grade average of 3.8 to 4.0).


Machinist Mate First Class Brian Thomas of Spencerport has been selected as the 2003 Sailor of the Year for the Navy Marine Corps Reserve Center Rochester. NMCRC is one of seven Navy Reserve Centers in the northeast that support the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Petty Officer Thomas was selected as the 2003 recipient representing all seven centers.

MM1 Thomas has been in the Navy Reserve for five years and prior to that he served nine years on active duty attached to two nuclear submarines, the USS Kamehameha and the USS Nebraska.

Thomas is the son of Bruce and Pat Thomas of Spencerport.
