Adams Basin bridge closes for season April 30

The Adams Basin (Route 36) lift bridge over the Erie Canal will be raised on April 30 for the navigation season. It will be lowered to accommodate vehicular traffic November 15.

Weaknesses in the lifting mechanisms prohibit raising and lowering the bridge during the boating season. The bridge is scheduled for repairs in 2005.
