Union Street sidewalk project aided by grant
Funding for the construction of 1,000 feet of sidewalk on Union Street between Parkway Drive and Meadow Farm South was announced last week by Monroe County Legislator Mary Valerio. Funding for this project comes as part of over $2.2 million in Community Development Block Grants designated for Monroe County.
This project will help 500 low to moderate income residents including elderly and disabled persons. "This local initiative will be a great asset for our community," Valerio said. "These new sidewalks will make our community safer for pedestrians, especially for children and elderly residents."
The Monroe County Legislature is expected to vote on the proposal at its June 10 Legislature meeting. Public comments can be directed to the Office of Community Development, Monroe County Department of Planning & Development, 8100 City Place, 50 West Main Street, Rochester, NY 14614. Comments must be received by May 16.
There will be a public hearing on all projects May 6 at the Fairport Village Office at 31 South Main Street in Fairport at 9 a.m.
