Hamlin Lions Club marks 20th year

On April 20, the Hamlin Lion's Club met for dinner at the Hamlin VFW celebrating the 20th anniversary of the club's charter. Many charter members were in attendance.

Club members have been active this year working on several projects, including: Peace Poster contest, diabetes/glaucoma free screening clinics, Lions' info booth at the Lilac Festival, "bell ringing" to assist the Salvation Army, pancake breakfast with proceeds benefiting an injured guide dog, distribution of Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and toys in cooperation with Hamlin Life Solutions.

The club also has helped to preserve the community's heritage by contributing to the Hamlin Firemen's Engine 55 restoration fund.

The club's loan closet is available for neighbors in need. Eye glasses and hearing aids no longer needed may be dropped off at the Hamlin Town Hall for recycling.

Coming later this year, scholarships will be awarded to deserving Town of Hamlin high school seniors and in June, members will host their annual golf tournament/fundraiser. The club will also be a part of Hamlin Wheel Fest by operating their food booth.
