Association
Kendall Elementary students had their best year ever as participants in the Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart events raising $11,540 for the American Heart Association's research and programs. Kendall is the first school district in Orleans County to participate in Jump Rope for Heart. Over the past 23 years, students have raised $185,353.
"The outstanding effort of our students, staff, administrators and community is the reason our district has been so successful in raising such a large amount of money in such a small community," said Linda Curtis, physical education teacher. She, along with physical education teacher Dan Peckham, has coordinated the event every year Kendall has participated.
Students in grades 2-6 participated in the events in their physical education classes. The students raising the most money in the Hoops for Heart event ($200 each) were fourth-grader Nathaniel Gustke and fifth-grader Kyle Bobzin. Raising the most money in the Jump Rope for Heart event (also $200) is fifth-grader Nadia LaDue.
