Bergen appoints new mayor
Trustee Wayne Bailey has accepted an appointment to serve as the mayor of the Village of Bergen. Bailey was appointed in April following the death of former mayor Thomas LeSage.
Elected as trustee in March 2000, Bailey was appointed deputy mayor in April 2003 and was re-elected to a trustee seat in April 2004. "My priorities for this year are to improve the electric and sewer infrastructure in the village," Bailey said. "I would also like to build better relationships with the surrounding towns and municipalities."
Bailey appointed Paul Cooper to fill his trustee seat. Trustee Anna Marie Barclay was appointed Bailey's deputy mayor.
Cooper had previously served as secretary of the planning and zoning board; was appointed as an alternate to the Zoning Board of Appeals in June 2001; received an appointment to the Zoning Board of Appeals in April 2003. He has served as chairman of the zoning board and was appointed as an alternate to the planning board in November 2003.
Barclay served as deputy mayor under Mayors Jim McConnell and Thomas LeSage, was elected trustee in March 1998 and re-elected as a trustee in March 2002.
