Interact club attacks project
There is an organization in Parma that has developed a reputation of getting the job done, and they are the Hilton High School Rotary Interact Club, according to Hilton-Parma Recreation Director Steve Fowler.
Organized in conjunction with the 12th Annual Day of Caring, the Interact Club and their community representatives, Rotarians Judy Nesbitt and Al Alton, took on the task of washing and waxing both of Parma's Senior Citizen transport vehicles and a Recreation Department truck. According to Helaine Donn, advisor to this group of Hilton High School youth, the Interact Club has been quite active since their inception with their volunteer efforts these past four years. Most recently, they sold lollipops utilizing the proceeds to purchase a new refrigerator for Camp Haccamo, and spend much time at the Camp cleaning and making repairs.
Parma Town Supervisor Rick Lemcke saw the Interact Club's efforts as an example of the positive aspects of Parma. "Here we have a group of our high school youth committed to enhance the quality of life for others taking on the task of assisting the town with maintaining our senior transport vehicles which provide a necessary function in our community. There is a special quality of compassion demonstrated by these youth, and all of Parma is very thankful," said Lemcke.
