Ogden Farmers' Library to offer Summer Pen-Pals
Ogden Farmers' Library is encouraging all children to participate this summer in the New York State Library's statewide summer reading program, "New York is Read, White and Blue." The public library, which serves several hundred children each summer, urges youngsters and parents to come in and sign up for the 2004 summer reading program, beginning July 5. There will be reading programs for younger children, teens and adults as well. Brochures are currently available at the library with program details.
This year, in addition to all these reading programs, a new pen-pal program will be offered for children ages 7-12. Participants can exchange email and postcards with a pen-pal from the Lyell branch library, and then have the opportunity to meet their new friend on a field trip to Springdale Farm in August. Contact children's librarian Anne Nolan at 352-2141 to register. Space is limited.
The library is located at 269 Ogden Center Road in the Ogden Community Center. Summer hours (beginning after Memorial Day) are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays. The library will not be open weekends in the summer.
