Hilton youth wins
NHL "7th Kid" award
The National Hockey League (NHL) and its 30 member teams recently held a nationwide contest to find the most dedicated young fan through the first ever NHL 7th Kid Award. Hockey fans in the U.S. and Canada, ages 7-17, were encouraged to show why they are the top fan of their favorite NHL team, and ultimately the entire league, by submitting a 250 word essay plus optional materials (in the form of videos, drawings, stories) to support their claim.
Scotty Eisenmenger, a second grade student at Quest Elementary in Hilton, was selected as the Buffalo Sabres' 7th Kids. His winning essay detailed his love for the Buffalo Sabres and included some drawings he made of the Sabres' logo and a photograph of himself with his dog "Sabre." He recently visited the HSBC arena to accept his award and was presented with an authentic Martin Biron (#43) jersey, a year's subscription to "Sports Illustrated Kids" magazine and a box full of Sabre merchandise. As Buffalo's winner, the Hilton resident will be featured on the www.sabres.com website. He will also have the chance to win the league-wide 7th Kid Award which includes a VIP trip for two to the NHL Awards Show in Toronto this June.
He is the son of Dave and Sue Eisenmenger of Little Tree Lane in Hilton.
