Rangers win tourney
Spencerport won their softball tournament for the second consecutive year by defeating Gates Chili and Canandaigua as they prepared to head into the post season.
Shannon Elliott went 3-4 with a double and three RBI's and Kelly Schweikert struck out five while allowing six hits while also scoring three runs in a 9-7 win over the Spartans. Caitlin O'Brien was 2-3 with two runs scored in the victory.
In the championship game of the Ranger Diamond Classic, the Rangers took a 2-0 lead on a passed ball and a Sheri Recco RBI single. Canandaigua tied the game in the fourth inning. In the fifth, Sara Daggett reached on an error and scored on a Schweikert double for a 3-2 win and the title. Tina Ruggeri struck out five and allowed only four hits for the win.
The Rangers also lost to Irondequoit 2-1 in 10 innings and 12-1 to Greece Arcadia during the final week of the season. They were no-hit by Irondequoit in the first round of the playoffs. Seniors seeing their final action were Elizabeth Paoletti, Daggett, Melissa D'Agostino, Jamie Pinto, Elliott, O'Brien and Christina Sullivan.
