Dr. Beverly Elaine Baker; formerly of area

Dr. Beverly E. Baker of Macedon, NY, a woman known for her commitment to her family and to her community, died April 8, 2004, in Rochester. Born and raised in Marion and Hamlin, she attended Brockport High School, where she achieved excellence in women's athletics and was active in band. She attended Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio, graduating in May 1976 with a bachelor of arts degree and Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, receiving her master's in College Student Personnel and a Doctor of Philosophy in business. Then she began a career in college administration, first in the Bursar Office at Bowling Green State University, followed by assignments as Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean, Medical College of Ohio in Toledo and Dean, Student Affairs at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

In each of the communities Dr. Baker lived, she developed a love of the students and faculty she served and gave generous moral and financial support to those causes in which she believed. She will always be remembered by her family and friends as a person who was genuinely interested in others and as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic fan of sports trivia.

Dr. Baker received a number of awards including Distinguished Service Award from Bowling Green State University and Who's Who Among American Women. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Senior Laureate, Eta Sigma Phi and had professional memberships in The National Association for Student Affairs, Personnel Administrators, American College Personnel Association, Association for American Medical Colleges, and the Society for Colleges and University Planning.

Dr. Baker was active in her community as a member of the Asbury First United Methodist Church, Rochester; Heidelberg College Fellows, and American Association of Business Women.

Her mother, Barbara Berridge Baker, predeceased her. Her father, John E. Baker of Macedon, and her siblings survive her; Terry (Edward) Grissing, Rochester; James (Ellen) Baker, Rhinebeck, NY; David (Mary) Baker, Jupiter, Florida; and Joan (Jeffrey) Turner, Alexandria, Virginia; also surviving are six nieces, a nephew, and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A memorial service in her honor will be Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the Farmington Friends Church, County Road 8, Farmington. Contributions in memory of Dr. Beverly Baker can be made to Asbury First United Methodist Church, Farmington Friends Church, American Cancer Society or Heidelberg College.


BERGEN

Kolmetz, Michael Walter, May 21, 2004, age 65. Son of Michael and the late Mary Kolmetz. Husband of Judith Kolmetz. Father of Walter (Lisa) Kolmetz, Robert (Judy) Kolmetz, Mark (Teresa) Kolmetz, Scott Kolmetz. Brother of William (Sue) Kolmetz and Richard (Pam) Kolmetz; grandfather of 10; many nieces and nephews survive.

BROCKPORT

Ferguson, Marcia (Scarborough), On May 18, 2004 at the age of 74. She is survived by her sons, Webster Chapman and Colvin Chapman; grandson, Christopher Chapman of Sydney, Australia; and many dear friends.

•Garlock, Dayton Samuel Morgan, On Thursday, May 20, 2004 at the age of 49, after a brief illness. He is predeceased by his father, Fletcher. Survived by his mother, Alice; brothers, Fletcher T., Charles A. (Elizabeth), R. Andrew (Sue A.); and two nieces.

A Memorial Service was held May 27 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Brockport. Interment, private. Those wishing can contribute to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or The Asheville School, Asheville, North Carolina in his memory.


CHURCHVILLE

•Pisaro, Nicholas D., May 19, 2004, age 83. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Pisaro, and his son, Nicholas Pisaro. Survived by his wife Gwendolyn Pisaro (Wilson); his children Frank (Sharon) Pisaro of Atlanta, Georgia, Roger (Melinda) Pisaro of Churchville and Ann Marie (Eric) Wischmeyer of Spencerport; his grandchildren Jason and Ashley Pisaro, Hillary and Justin Pisaro, Jenna and Dereck Wischmeyer; his brother Samuel (Rose Mary) Pisaro; his sisters Mary (Anthony) Affronti and Lucille Pender; sisters-in-law, Louise Pisaro and Patricia Pisaro; several nieces and nephews. Nick owned and operated the Churchville Liquor Store for 43 years.

A Funeral Mass was said May 22 at St. Vincent De Paul Church, Churchville. Interment, St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery, Churchville. •Kerr, Myrtie F., died May 3, 2004 at the age of 92. She is predeceased by her husband Robert Kerr. She is survived by two sisters Evelyn (Euler) Martin Spink of Brockport and Mildred Jannain of Rochester; several nieces and nephews.

Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Holley.


HAMLIN

Lambert, Mary C., May 23, 2004, age 84. Predeceased by her husbands, Richard Lambert and Walter Check. Survived by her children, Mary Jayne Lavilla, Carmelita McClain, Walter (Diane) Check; brother, Johnny (Lucy) Lacny; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Mary was a Delco retiree.

HILTON

•Hilbert, William J., "Bill," Age 58, died from complications of lung cancer, on May 20, 2004. He is survived by his son, Patrick; his daughter, Emily; brother, Robert and wife Cathy; sister, Donna (Hilbert) Dehn; mother, Carol; and many great friends.

A Celebration of His Life was held May 24 at The Bay Bar and Grill, Hilton. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Joseph's Villa of Rochester, c/o the Recreation Department.


•Markel, Thelma A., May 22, 2004, age 86. She was predeceased by her husband, George, 1988 and her daughter-in-law, Kathy, 2003. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and David Burgess; her son, George Markel Jr.; her sister, June Wyand; sister-in-law, Pat Anselm; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

•Poulton, Frank A., Suddenly, May 18, 2004, age 62. Survived by his wife, Victoria; mother and father, Edith and Stanley Jerzak; children, MaryAnn (Daryl) Howard, Danielle (Dale) Reeder, Edith (Ed) Mullen, Francine Miller; sister, Marguerite (Joe) Baker; brothers, Charles (Cathy) Poulton, Peiter (Mary) Jerzak, Martin Jerzak, Eugene, David, Mark and Scott Poulton; grandchildren, Alexa, Savannah, Frank, Samantha, Angela, Jacob, John, Ashley; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Frank was a retiree of Eastman Kodak after 27 years of service.

•Schmidt, Brian D., Sr., Suddenly, May 21, 2004, age 47. Survived by his parents, Leroy and Beverly Schmidt; son, Brian D. Jr.; sister, Melinda (Robert) Jiacobbe; niece, Kimberly (Jon) Turner; nephew, Robert Jiacobbe; great-nephew, Dillon J. Turner.
