Community theater group forming in Ogden
An informational meeting for everyone interested in starting a community theater for the Ogden/Spencerport area is set for Monday, June 7. The meeting will be in room 15-17 in the Spencerport School district offices at 71 Lyell Avenue.
Several community members met informally on May 20 to discuss the need for a venue to showcase local talent. Phill Langton, Terry Hedges, Pat Williams, Pat Merritt, Aileen Sousa, Mary Ellen Markant, Beverly Brust, Dan Milgate and Judy Lawler were present and gave input about the project.
The community theater will be a volunteer organization run by Ogden/Spencerport community members. This will allow adults in the community to participate in the Fine Arts. Child positions will also be available, but the focus will not be on children's theater. A diversified program would draw many talents. A mix of musical, drama, comedy and other techniques will be explored.
The base of operation will be the new Spencerport Performing Arts Center at Spencerport High School. The meeting is open to everyone from the Ogden/Spencerport area interested in any aspect of theater.
