BOCES 2 offers a summer Culinary Camp
Seventh and eighth graders who like to cook or think they'd like to cook can learn what it takes to be a chef in a week-long summer program to be offered locally. Students will participate in hands-on activities and have the opportunity to visit the Wegmans Test Kitchens and work with culinary arts staff and Wegmans chefs to prepare a variety of tasty dishes. In the process, students will learn about different career options in culinary arts and related fields, such as hospitality and marketing.
The program, called Culinary Camp, will be offered at the WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center. It's sponsored by Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES, the Monroe County School-Business Partnership, Wegmans, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Monroe Community College.
Priority will be given to current seventh and eighth grade students in the BOCES 2 School-Business Partnership districts (Brockport, Churchville-Chili, Greece, Wheatland-Chili, and Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES), but students from other districts may register if space permits.
The camp will run Monday-Friday, July 19-23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center, 3589 Big Ridge Road, Spencerport. A registration form and brochure can be found at www.monroe2boces.org/news.cfm or call Joanne Grobe at 352-2472. The registration deadline is June 18.
