Learning how to get
"the look for less"
Thanks to students from WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center and SUNY Brockport, a group of Orleans County students know that it doesn't take a lot of money to get a winning look.
Young girls in grades 6-12 who participate in the Liberty Partnership-Life Program had the opportunity to learn about tasteful hairstyles, make up and clothing in preparation for job interviews and college visits. "The Look for Less" included an afternoon at SUNY Brockport where students picked out new outfits and had their own fashion show with clothing collected by students involved in Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA). Then the girls spent another with Cosmetology students at the WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center in Spencerport where they had their hair styled.
"This is the first year the students have come to WE-MO-CO and it's been great," said Denise B. Prohaska, project director for the Liberty Partnership-Life Program. "This is just one of the ways we can help our girls become everything they are capable of being."
