Spencerport schools honored for safety

Spencerport Central School District is one of 43 school districts and Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) organizations statewide to receive this year's School Safety Excellence Award from the Utica National Insurance Group.

The award, which includes $500 to be used by the district for furthering safety efforts, was presented at a school safety seminar offered by Utica National, which insures more than 300 districts upstate.

Awards were based on ratings in 11 different areas from school playground safety to indoor air quality.
