Bright Raven Gymnastics dominates Dare to Be Great meet

Bright Raven Gymnastics hosted the third annual Dare to Be Great Invitational May 22-23 and finished on top in nearly every division. Over two hundred young gymnasts represented nine clubs with Bright Raven taking two first place team awards and one second.

The Level 4 team earned first place with a high score of 187.05. In the 11 and over division, Lauren Daggs of Churchville took first all around (36.90) and third place in floor exercise (9.10). Amanda Kubitz of Spencerport was first on vault (9.75) and tied for first place on balance beam with teammate Melissa Rombola of Spencerport, each scoring 9.25. Jamie Gilbert of Chili was first on floor exercise (9.45). Alyssa Richter of Gates placed third on vault (9.50). In the 10-11 age division of Level 4, Kristina Nupp of Churchville was first all around (37.60) and also took first on beam (9.30), first on floor (9.60) and second on bars (9.45). Emily Arnold of Gates took third all around (36.775) and second of vault (9.575). Haley Cunningham of LeRoy was third on floor (9.225).

The Level 5 team finished in second place with Emily Thomas of Conesus taking first all around in the 9 and under age division with a score of 36.725. Emily also earned first place on beam (9.35), first on floor (9.00), second on bars (9.525) and third on vault (8.85). In the 10-11 age division, Amber Harewood of Chili placed second on floor (9.25). In the 12 and over division, Amanda Clapper of Spencerport took second on bars (9.25) and Shannon Fitzgerald of Chili was third on vault (9.15).

The Level 6, 7 and 8 teams combined for one team where Bright Raven took first again. Competing Level 8 in the 14 and under division, Julie Mingoea of Spencerport was first on vault (9.00), first on beam (9.10) and second on bars (8.325), floor (8.65) and all around (35.075). In the 15 and over division, Christine Manthei of Chili was first on vault (8.55), first on bars (9.00) and second on beam (9.05) and all around (35.15). Sabrina Hill of Hamlin led the Level 7 competition with the highest optional all around score of the day (36.05) taking first in the 12 and over division. She was also first on bars (9.10), second on vault (9.35) and third on beam (8.65) and floor (8.95). In the same division, Amber Kober of Ogden placed second all around (35.725) and was also second on bars (8.575), beam (9.05) and floor (9.00). Brianna Fischer of Spencerport was first on vault (9.40), first on beam (9.15), first on floor (9.10) and third all around (35.60). Alyssa Kober of Ogden was third on bars (8.35). In the Level 7 competition for ages 11 and under Rachel Eckert of Irondequoit took second all around (33.475) and was also second on vault (9.25) and beam (8.45). In Level 6 competition for ages 13 and over, Nicole Morone of Churchville placed first on bars (8.95) and third on beam (8.20).
